Foster With Us
Without a shelter, we rely on foster homes to house and care for the cats. Your help is essential.
Foster caregivers play a vital role in helping cats thrive while awaiting their forever homes. Your responsibilities include providing a nurturing environment, ensuring basic care such as feeding and maintaining cleanliness, and keeping us informed of any health or behavioral changes. These updates are essential for helping the cat transition smoothly to its future home.
It’s especially helpful if you can take photos and short videos of your foster cat for use on social media and Petfinder, as this greatly increases their chances of adoption. Detailed descriptions of their personality also make a big difference in connecting them with the right adopters.
We also ask that you be open to virtual meet-and-greets or, if possible, welcoming potential, vetted adopters into your home to meet the cat.

Foster and Save Lives
Becoming a foster is a rewarding way to help us rescue more cats in need. By opening your home to a foster cat, you play a critical role in our efforts, as we rely on foster homes due to not having a physical shelter. Whether you're exploring pet ownership or prefer a flexible commitment, fostering offers a unique opportunity to experience the companionship of cats. The journey of guiding a cat from rescue to adoption is incredibly fulfilling.
Happy Fosters from Our Community
“I feel like I get all the best parts of having a cat without some of the responsibilities. I get to live with a cat but never have to organize pet sitting when we travel. I'm not worried about their medical costs as I'm not responsible for those. I get to meet many different cats and love the variety."

“I love to have enough time to get to understand each of my fosters’ personalities and needs so City Critters can help place them into the right furever home. It's heartbreaking to have them move on, but also exciting to know that they will be loved and provided for moving forward. And I know I'll fall in love again because I do - with every single cat."
